Where is God?
We've all heard how great God is at some time or another. Whether it was through the testimony of someone
else or a sermon preached in church or read in a passage straight from the bible...we heard. He's so
mighty...so powerful...so loving...He knows all and sees all...He wants the best for all of his children. Then we
look around in all of the chaos that is this world and wonder where the heck he is!
People are killing people left and right. Human trafficking, whether it be for sexual purposes or organ stealing
is outrageous. You can't trust anyone anymore. We're constantly having to watch our own backs....our
children aren't safe...WHERE IS GOD?! If he is all of the great things he is professed to be by so many, why is he allowing this?
I can understand the frustration and anger we all feel when something needlessly horrible happens but I think
we should be looking at ourselves and not blaming God. We all have been given the gift of free will. The
freedom to choose between satisfying ourselves or pleasing God. Far too often we put ourselves first. It's not
that God is lost or playing some torturous game of hide and seek. It's that we would rather lean on our own
understanding of how we should live rather than seeking Him and all of His wisdom because doing things our
way...the world's way doesn't require us to hold ourselves accountable. It's much easier to point the finger
elsewhere rather than take responsibility for the mess we ourselves created. It's a harsh truth to accept but
it's a truth nonetheless.
God never intended for us to live this way. He created us to love Him, love ourselves, and love our neighbor
as we love ourselves. Maybe if we started to listen to Him more than this self-destructing world we'd be much
better off.....just a little food for thought.
